Brainstorm Blog #2

For Project 2, I want my Exquisite Corpse Soundscape to embody the chaotic inner dialogue that is always going on inside my head on any given day. I’m always juggling through the everyday activities that come with the fast paced life of a college student. From going to classes back to back, cooking up food, and then taking exams, I always have a ton of things going on. In other words, I am always thinking about what I have to do next and things that I have to accomplish on my agenda. I find it hard sometimes for others, particularly family members, to relate to what I have going on because they are not inside of my head. Thus, via creating a complex sound composition, I will be able to allow my listeners to gain a deeper understanding of what it is like to be me. Some sounds that I plan on recording are of me cooking food, taking a shower, and doing chores around my apartment. I might be able to expand on this idea by combining the everyday sounds of my own life with other sounds to tell the story of an abstract character, possibly a professional chef. Chefs work reality hard in the kitchen and in the process of doing their craft, they consequently create so many unique sounds. At the end of the day, they all go home and live normal lives like the rest of us. It will be interesting to explore the sounds of my own life and turn them into a new imaginary composition.
